PhD Student and Lecturer

A bit about Phoebe Walker-Sharpe

I am currently a PhD student and a lecturer at the University of Manchester. Before joining the University of Manchester, I completed my Undergraduate Degree in Linguistics and Masters Degree in Clinical Linguistics at York St. John University, and my Postgraduate Certificate in Psychology at Northumbria University.

Child language acquisition and information processing in neurodiverse populations has always been an interest of mine. In my Undergraduate Degree, my research explored the language profile in adults with Developmental Coordination Disorder and my Masters degree research focused on the relationship between language abilities in Autism Spectrum Conditions and Weak Central Coherence in children.

My Role in LuCiD

I am so excited to be part of the LuCiD team, as it is amazing to be part of such a vibrant research community. My project is centred on the communication theme and looks at cognitive-linguistic abilities in children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). In particular, my research focuses on children’s abilities to predict up-and-coming linguistic information, how this presents in their language profile and what this means for the broader ASC phenotype.
