How do we learn words?
Learning a word is an enormously difficult problem, linking new knowledge about speech sounds to discovering how the world works. In this talk, Padraic Monaghan show's how young children deal with this difficult problem, using all sorts of information around them to learn what a word means.
This talk was filmed at our Kids Say the Funniest Things event at the Manchester Museum in November 2015. The talk is aimed at parents, caregivers, early years practitioners and anyone else with an interest in how children learn to communicate.
